Meet Kim
Who is the “real” Kim of Kim & Jason? Well, she is not five-years old and does not wear red bib overalls everyday, as Jason has portrayed her in the Kim & Jason comic strip and books. However, she does love to wear overalls, she did have a Grandpa called Boompa who was a retired carpenter, and she loves her stuffed skunk, named Stinky. The “real” Kim is five-years-old at heart! She has premature crow's feet around her eyes from smiling nine minutes out of ten, and she is typically found donning colorful Chuck Taylor low tops and retro babydoll graphic tees that express outwardly her inner enthusiasm for life.Kim spent five straight years with five-year-olds as a Kindergarten teacher. Upon retiring from the field of education, Kim chose to take the lessons she learned having been surrounded by short, yet wise sherpas all day and use them to help educate and inspire Adultitis-stricken grown-ups to Escape Adulthood. She has her hand in many aspects of the Kim & Jason empire. Most notably, she is a speaker and author who travels around the globe with her best friend and husband Jason, as they fight Adultitis together. She serves as the "Director of Everything," for the company, which proves to be an accurate title from day-to-day. She loves meeting interesting people fighting the good fight -- whether on the blogosphere, by phone, or at speaking engagements. Currently, she is lobbying Congress to make afternoon rest time mandatory for all and she organizes story time and snack time for the staff each day. ;)
What Makes Kim Tick: buttered noodles, the smell of fresh cut grass, going on walks with Jason, The Office, daisies, shoes, dancing, pigtails, the color red, brownies, listening to her iPod, super hero attire, comfy clothes, Batman, airplanes, laughing, slow dancing with my dad, campfires, bubble baths, an Outback Steakhouse steak medium-rare, standup comedians, freckles, painted toenails, lakes, chocolate shakes (my father-in-law's), any song by Andrew Peterson
Who is your hero? Why?
My hero is a boy name Kyle. When our paths crossed he was five-years-old. Through our ongoing involvement in the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of WI, Jason and I met him as he was awaiting a new heart, and preparing to meet Buzz Lightyear (his hero) at Disney World. His unmatched passion for life, pure childlike faith and courage is something I will always look up to. The ninety minutes we spent together changed me forever.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Hawaii...bring on that sunset!
What's the craziest thing you have done?
I was pretty good at Chinese fire drills in my day, but nothing compares to my decision to marry Jason and start this crazy journey together.
What's the one thing you want to accomplish before you die?
Where do I start? Besides “changing the world...one adult at a time?” I would like to visit all 50 states.
What "lesson from mom" do you still live by?
Trust in the Lord. Period.
What one event in your childhood had the greatest effect on what you do today?
I met Jason when I was 16 (I guess that is childhood). He is my eternal fountain of youth. I'm not sure if I would have embraced my childlike spirit as wholeheartedly without his encouragement, excitement, and most importantly- vision.
Favorite Childhood Toy(s): My little people Sesame Street set, my wooden ironing board that my Boompa made for me, and my swing set.
