Ah, the noble jelly bean! It’s soft sweet center can trace it’s history to a confection known as Turkish Delight which is believed to have been enjoyed some 2000 years ago. And it’s shiny candy shell dates back to 17th century France and the process for creating Jordan Almonds. American innovation brought the two processed together in the 1800’s, revived it with the penny candy phase in the early 1900’s and reinvented the industry with gourmet jelly beans by Goelitz in 1976.
Maybe it is because of their storied history or because of their fun shape and bright colors but jelly beans make fantastic jewelry. That’s right jewelry - likeĀ our Jelly Bean Fancy Earrings! Not made with the actual candies but featuring beautiful acrylic jelly bean “gems” on sterling silver hooks.
Perfect as a gift for your sweetheart, the Monday Madness price for March 31, 2008 is $17.95! Choose from 4 “flavors” - pink, green, orange, or blue - as a sweet reward for yourself today!

Some folks are like Monica from the TV show Friends when it comes to cleaning:
However not everyone feels the theraputic powers of cleaning or even the happiness in cleaning products. If you’re like me you wait for designated seasons for scrubbing and such. While National Cleaning Week comes to a close on Saturday that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get into spring cleaning spirit.
Since we’re all about helping folks find the fun in grown-up responsibilities, we’ve added a new line of cleaning tools at the Lemonade Stand.
Whether it’s the everyday drudgery of washing dishes or the deep cleansing of all the corners in the spring, dots, leaves and flower power will bring a smile to your face.
While the products won’t produce magical abilities to tidy up, I think you will find the element of fun. You may end up whistling while you work.

One of the great things about being a grown-up is that you have the power to do stuff you couldn’t as a kid - like pick out all the great things you truly want in your Easter Basket. Shop the Lemonade Stand between now and March 31st and receive a little something extra from the Easter Bunny.

The Ides of March have passed and we’ve survived a crazy Easter snowstorm here in the Midwest so my thoughts turn to spring: fields of green grass on a sunny and windy afternoon perfect for flying a kite.
When I was about 9 years old, I built a homemade kite; constructed of wrapping paper taped to wood borrowed from the bottoms of my bedroom shades, it was beautiful failure as a kite. I would have loved to have owned one of our Astounding Keyring Kites.
Completely portable, this nylon flier folds down into a two inch case that can be attached to your keyring or hooked to your backpack. The strutless parafoil is perfect for a day on the beach or an afternoon at the park.
A fantastic deal at $6.95 - it’s a super bargain for the Monday Madness price of $4.95. Good only for today March 24th - get’em while they last!

We’re running out of time for this month’s Lemonade Stand Photo Contest. The theme is “Dirt” - if I were eligible I would submit the following photos:
Probably would be disqualified for not showcasing “dirt” — this is my sister Annie with my cousin David - note the trifecta of outside fun: sand, tricycle and wheelbarrow!
Technically this a “mud” themed photo. These are not my feet - though I have been known to splash in mud puddles!
I bet you have a better photo than these - c’mon gives us some “dirt” - enter today for your chance to win a $20 Lemonade Stand gift card!

March 20, 2008 - a changing of seasons due to the vernal equinox occurs today. From Infoplease:
Far from being an arbitrary indicator of the changing seasons, March 20 (March 21 in some years) is significant for astronomical reasons. On March 20, 2008, at precisely 1:48 A.M. EDT (March 20, 05:48 Universal Time), the Sun will cross directly over the Earth’s equator. This moment is known as the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. For the Southern Hemisphere, this is the moment of the autumnal equinox.

On this first day of spring I direct your attention to a timeless spring that has brought joy and laughter to generations of fun loving folks:
Slinky! — The mini Slinky performs the same gravity fueled feats with that magical Slinky sound. And this edition comes with a booklet full of fun facts.
I would also like to point you to a fine addition to any home or office decor:
Spiral Wall Clock — This clock evokes the playful fun of our stair-walking friend. Checking the time will bring a smile to your face no matter the hour. Sharp silver with black face, this clock measures 14″ across and runs on 1 AA battery.
Celebrate Spring with either of these cool things for the young at heart from the Lemonade Stand!

One of the cool new things we have at the Lemonade Stand is the Audio Cassette Tote Bag.
Reminiscent of those mix tapes you might have saved in memento boxes under your bed, this fun and functional tote is a nostalgic tool for grabbing a few groceries or carrying your workout clothes.
Subtle design elements like the handles lining up like tape being pulled from the cassette make this a neat item to show off anywhere.
Or maybe to blog about. Fion honors us with a nice post about her gift from Mark; commenting not only about the fun bag she spotted on our site but also the packaging and goodies inside.
Thanks Fion! So glad you like the bag! (Nice job to Mark for taking action on the find.)
I know Kim likes this bag too. What do you think of the Audio Cassette Tote Bag?
