My mom is my hero for a lot of reasons: her faith & strength as she battles cancer, her love & thoughtfulness as a sister, wife & mother, her compassion & kindness as a friend. She’s also a savvy business woman whom I admire for her customer service skills.

As a jewelry stylist for 20 years (check out some of her designs), she’s used her eye for great jewelry to help people find the perfect accessory for their special occasion attire. For the last two years she has been designing her own line of jewelry and learning the craft of bringing those ideas to life. A few weekends ago, I helped Mom at the Lincoln Park Cultural Center Art Fair in Chicago. It was really great to see her in action.

Her customer service superpower is passion. She loves finding the right pieces for each person. She is delighted to talk about the gemstones she chose to use or to show the different combination of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. She was so thrilled all weekend that people liked her jewelry. I believe I inherited this passion gene - I love it when folks are happy with their Lemonade Stand goodies.

You can definitely tell the difference between someone who is “just doing their job” and someone who is truly passionate about serving people. My mom has the customer service super power of passion in abundance and I can only hope that like mother like daughter.

Here’s the story,
Of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold,
Like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Here’s the story,
Of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men,
Living all together, but they were all alone-.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
and they knew they was much more than a hunch.
That this group,
Must somehow form a family.
That’s the way we all became the Brady Bunch,
The Brady Bunch- the Brady Bunch
That’s the way- we became the Brady Bunch.

This week’s Monday Madness item is a very Brady deal.

Maybe you don’t have a family fit for 70’s sitcom history, but I bet you have nine fun photos of your hot rod or your baseball team or your cat’s nine lives.

Check out this solid silver Multi Photoframe with nine square openings. A great gift for grandma’s pumpkins, coach’s all-stars, or dad’s newest baby.

Pick up 1 or 3 for the super low price of $10.70!

Remember this deal disappears when Monday September 24th ends!

Conversation overheard of two 12-year-olds looking at a display of our Lemonade Stand products:

Boy: “See it’s all this stuff that grown-ups need to use for like cooking and stuff.”

Girl: “Yeah, but it’s fun like it’s for us kids so they aren’t stressed out all the time!”

True story.

Here are 13 of my favorite things to help make kitchen duty less of a chore:

Check this out - Bob over at Every, Every Minute has this fun meme called MyTurn/YourTurn - it’s simple straight-forward fun, and no tagging, so I’m in! This edition is called Happy Songs.

Last summer I saw the Newsboys in concert where they previewed their “Go” album and the lead track entitled “Wherever We Go” has made me smile ever since. I’ve listened to it on my drive to our office pretty much every day. In my mind it’s a perfect company theme song because of lyrics like this:

Where we go, little glow-worms glow
Little roadrunners run ahead
Gonna tell their friends
Little mice, little men
Get ‘em all excited
All invited

Chorus:
Hands up
Holler back here
Let’s throw this party in gear
We brought the welcome mat
Wherever we go, that’s where the party’s at

Totally a natural fit for the continent-crossing speaking duo of Kim and Jason, but it also fits me because I believe every package I send from the Lemonade Stand is a little party in a box! With way cool stuff to transform home and office spaces as well as gifts to fight adultitis, how can there not be a celebration?

There is a smile on my face as I pack boxes of goodies when I envision joy as described in these two favorite verses:

Wherever we go, bluebirds sing
And the flowers bloom
And the grass gets green
It’s a curious thing
But it’s just our thing

Wherever we go, the bees behave
In the treetops, squirrels smile and wave
It’s a curious thing
And it’s humbling

And my absolute favorite line:

God help us, we just love our job

I really do love my job and I grin from ear to ear when I hear this song that happily reminds me of where the party’s at!

YourTurn: What song always makes you happy when you hear it?

Alternative: What is your company’s/job’s theme song? Do you want to change it or crank it up?

It’s Monday Madness! One great item, one ridiculously low price.

Today we feature our Party People chopsticks. I have yet to master the art of eating with bamboo skewers. In fact, I tend to deliver most food to my shirt rather than my mouth. With these bright fun-shaped chopsticks everyone can feast and not need a bottle of stain remover!

Chopstick manners to observe as listed on back of box:

DO:

Grasp chopsticks gently near top.

Go directly for desired morsel.

Take small and delicate mouthfuls.

Lay chopsticks down when done.

DON’T:

Spear chicken or stab at rice.

Rummage through the platter.

Point or wave with chopsticks.

Lick sauce off chopsticks.

Pick up these great party sticks for a great price on the Lemonade Stand - this deal good only today September 17, 2007!

It’s time to start the Madness!

I recently wrote about the really cool daily promotions we offer and how much I think folks are missing out on really great deals - like Monday Madness:

Maybe Mondays make us feel extra generous. Maybe we’re still a little loopy from the weekend. Maybe the rumors of that rogue leprechaun hiding in our office is true. Whatever the cause, every Monday at the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand, you will find one special item marked down to a ridiculously low price. You’ll never know what product it will be, no additional purchase is required, and it’ll only last for one day.

Well from now on, Monday Madness will be coming directly from me to you! If you like bargains, check back here every Monday. You never know when I’ll be extra “mad” and feature a whole slew of products.

Since it’s not Monday yet, I can’t tell you what the Monday Madness special is, but I can give you a hint: Bright, colorful, and useful for folks with the hand-eye coordination of the people featured in the following video.

Check back Monday for the crazy cool product with the crazy cool price!

Do you like things orderly - items in your pantry organized by food group and alphabetical?

Do you like things coordinated - drapes and throw pillows and area rug found on the color wheel for your newly painted walls?

Do you like things even - two towels folded neatly in the bathroom, with two washcloths draped across them?

If these things are true for you, you may not like what we just added to our store…

This is not a sample of several pairs of socks. This is one set of our totally cool new socks from LittleMissMatched! Three delightfully dissimilar socks for your uncoordinated pleasure.

I love these socks because they represent the perfect gift to yourself - what a fun way to put some fun and frivolity into your wardrobe. Marketing gurus and celebrities are joining this joyful rebellion to fashion status quo.

Even the most stodgy professional who feels compelled to keep up a certain appearance can indulge in this light-hearted ode to childhood couture. I mean if Katie Couric can slip on some zany socks for the evening news, couldn’t you wear a pair for your board meeting?

Don’t forget to check out the super soft mismatched gloves and give your workout shoes a joyful jolt with these awesome shoelaces!
