A Sneak Peak at the Making of “Monsters”
Ever since I announced the official retirement of the Kim & Jason comic strip, I have been working on a new project featuring the pint-sized duo. A busy speaking schedule has kept me from seeing a lot of progress, but I’m looking forward to really making some headway this summer. A script has been written for a new story about monsters under the bed, and my sketchbook is starting to fill up.
Here’s the first look at some of the early sketches for the new Kim & Jason project, tentatively entitled “Monsters.” I used the two guys in the bottom right of the first shot as inspiration for the homemade Shrinky Dinks Kim and I made for Escape Event #1.

I am particularly fond of the monster below who has six arms…two for removing the bedsheet, two for smothering the unsuspecting child with a pillow, and two for decapitating an innocent teddy bear — vicious!

This 22-page eBook features an assortment of nearly 30 comic strips — including full-color weekend strips. Boompa takes the kids on a field trip to the zoo in this episode originally published in 2005. They comment on the animals, feed some polar bears, and one of them even gets lost! Conveniently formatted for both easy screen viewing and printing.
